Peace Corner Donation Garden
The mission of the Wellington Heights Donation Community Garden is to bring people together to grow, cook, and share nourishing food, with the goals of cultivating community and alleviating hunger. (Inspiration from the Nashville Food Project)
2026:
Much gratitude to Dale Todd for inviting the City of Cedar Rapids to sponsor water sourcing being installed in our donation garden in 2025. In June the water piping installed by Brecke. Dale also connected the local association to sponsor the seasonal water bill. Thank you to City of CR and WHNA for your contribution to grow better community together.

Master Gardener's helped us secure 20 mesh covered spigots for ten rain barrels being installed for the 2027 season to feed water to 20 of the 23 beds. Three beds do not need regular watering. Nor does the vast ground produce including strawberries, Aronia berry, etc.

Gathering options for the recipe link is in process. Stay tuned for phase one of the Seed to Table Cooking Show and Recipes to be included in a drop down menu on the website.

In 2027, for the 5th annual 4 20 party (always the third weekend in April. Saturday and or Sunday depending on weather). We will begin the journey for permanent trellis installs and rain barrel build and install. Once the trellis's are up we can install the rain catchment design to improve reducing the water bill costs.

A watering team guide is being created to leverage all manner of water storage and use for a vibrant multi-dynamic system. Leveraging every opportunity to not just water plants, but teach others how to grow their own garden and community.

Great news, yes there's more. We are developing veteran horticulture therapy and will graduate to including animal therapy with our feral to friend Hisses to Kisses initiative.
Zach Johnson Foundation's Kids on Course has worked on moisturizing and preserving our fence. Their continued support with group projects makes a huge difference year after year.

The Chain Reaction cycling community lead by Logan will make its first appearance as a visiting group following Art in the Park. We are excited to welcome local groups for a tour and encouragment.
